I've seen a very old post on the options for Fax Integrator, so I thought I'd start a new one.

My company is wondering what others are using for their Fax and Email capabilities.  We would love to replace our fax integrator PC with something virtual, or use RightFax which we already are for other purposes.

Just unsure of what other options are out there, or maybe someone has seen the Lawson Fax integrator running on a virtual machine?

Any suggesions and/or help would be appreciated.

We use Right fax with MHC Document Express. MHC also has a faxing module for Document Express. We did not get module as we already had Rightfax.

adding  our MHC document express and right fax are both virtual. Our Cisco system is handling the physical calls.

So, @Andre77- Is that picking up the files from the Fax Integrator location? Or did you have to invent another process?
Also, is Rightfax used with MHC Document Express together or could you just use Rightfax?

We're also using MHC Doc Express to Right Fax. We use MHC to create the PO overlay - add our logo, basic T&C, fonts etc. It's picking up the prt files from select users so to print a PO the user id has to be setup - I'm not privy to those details but I know it's looking at the print manager for prt.

From there - Doc Express could send it anywhere but like Andrea - we already had Right Fax and it works well enough for us.

            Greg,

It is exactly like Kat says. You print your POs . There is a file mover application installed on the Lawson APP server that looks for specific values. It then moves those files over to the Document Express server. The Document Express server then reformats the PO's to your liking and sends them out to the Rightfax server who then sends it out to the Vendor.

Both our Document Express and Righfax servers are Virtual. Our Cisco communication is handling the faxing/hardware part (up to 200 something faxes possible). If you dont have oppurtunity  that you will need a physical server with modems for Rightfax. .

So for the PO's that are set up to email from the fax integrator, does the same process work for emails?

That is a different Module in Document Express you have to get. We have been looking into get that part from MHC. We just didnt have enough in our budget this year.

So one part from MHC to do faxes to Rightfax (which we already have) and another part from MHC to do the emails. Is that statement correct?

It's whatever you setup - Doc Express understands Paper, Fax and Email. It sends the paper printouts back through the printer networks, faxes through to Right Fax and emails through our Outlook server. You tell it which path each issue method takes and you can change it - we've upgraded and moved servers several times on all sides.

Thanks, Everyone! Sounds like Doc Express is the way to go for a replacement for the physical Fax Integrator PC.
We'd love to have everything virtual.. I'll pursue MHC and Doc Express.

As an alternative, we were able to do this using RightFax and a virtual server running Fax Integrator. The trick was that we set everything to run as Email. Our RightFax is setup to be able to send a fax from an email with the fax number in the address (not sure how that part is setup, but it sounds fairly standard). On a virtual server, we have Fax Integrator setup and it runs in a console session. It just processes emails from Lawson, so it can send an email to the vendor or it can send an email to RightFax for faxing.

We took a different approach. We implemented a fax server to eliminate phone lines and fax machines throughout the county. The new fax server (XMedius) supports faxing via email, so we converted all of our Lawson vendors from fax to email. Then we put our Fax Integrator on a virtual machine since we now have no need for a physical phone line/modem connection on the server.
