Brand new user to Lawson Infor.

    Question on MSCM reporting.

What are my options for doing custom reporting within MSCM prem-based?

I inherited a substantial list of data / reporting requests from our Supply Chain mgmt folks, and not sure where to begin.

    Many thanks!

Hello and Welcome!! You say you are on-premises, correct? What Lawson/Infor versions are you using? Do you have Lawson/Infor BI?
Thanks for using the LawsonGuru.com forums!

        We are on-Prem.

        Lawson v. 10.0.9

        MSCM v. 2022.08.01

We do not have Lawson BI

        Thanks!

Can you share a few of your top reporting requests? First option, assuming you are familiar with Crystal Reports. There are some (crystal) reports that ship with MSCM that can be utilized. You would need to have a Crystal report server license or some other means to view Crystal reports and you need to configure/connect everything up. If you have access to the MSCM install, you can look in the /config/reports folder to see the delivered reports. Depending on your reporting requirements, you might be able to piece together enough to satisfy the users. Crystal is not really the desired Infor/Lawson solution it once was, particularly since it's owned by SAP Most of Infor's effort these days is going into CloudSuite and their related BI products like Birst.

I have a list of about 25 or so reports / data that have been requested. These include..

            Inventory transactions by user/unit

            Inventory turns

            Fill rate by location

Top back ordered items overall / by location

I don't have any specifics on these yet, these are just examples of the requests.

It appears we need to purchase Crystal Reports Server. From what I gather this would allow 2 IT folks to develop the reports and deploy them to run within MSCM, is that correct?  Can this also be used within the Lawson application as well, for HR/PR/Finance etc.? And one last question: does this have to be purchased thru Infor, or directly from SAP?

            Thanks!

It's not in MSCM, but Lawson IC has some canned reports that may work

              IC220: Inventory transactions by user/unit
              IC134/IC135: Inventory Turns
I don't know about fill rate
              WH226: Backordered Items

You may want to have the folks requesting take a look at ICFL and WHFL - that should bring up listings of inquiry screens and reports for them.

RQ240 (Requisition Volume Summary Report) breaks down the requisitions by area/dept. It will also list the cummulative totals at the end. It gives you:

                • Total requisitions
                • Totals Lines
                • Number and % released to Warehouse
                • Number and % released to PO
                • Fill number and %
                • Kill number and %

So I assume we would need to buy Crystal Reports Server which is about 8.5k.

This would include the run-time licesnes so that end-users could run the reports from within MSCM (and/or Lawson), and it would also include the development tool so that 1 or 2 developers/programmers could create reports to be published/deployed within MSCM (and/or Lawson)?

Do I contact Infor to purchase this or go directly to SAP to buy?

                  Thanks so much!

Before spending money on Crystal, I'd make sure that the packaged reports are not what you need. Lawson and MSCM both have pre-built reports. Personally, I can't think of any MSCM report that Genesis Health has customized. Depending on your needs, you may be able to get by without spending the 8500.
